Who submits the application?

You should submit the application if you intend to extend your stay on the territory of the Republic of Poland on the basis of the national visa or a Schengen visa.

If you apply during the illegal stay we will refuse the initiation of the proceeding.

The Schengen visa entitles you to one or more entries, provided that neither the duration of a continuous visit nor the total duration of successive stays in the territory of the Schengen States  exceed 90 days in any 180 days counted from the date of first entry to that territory.

National Visa entitles you to entry into the territory of the Republic of Poland and the continuous stay on it or to several stays on the territory of the following one after another, lasting a total of more than 90 days during the period of validity of the visa.

You can apply for an extension of the period of validity of an issued visa or period of stay under this visa on the territory of the Republic of Poland if the following conditions are met:

  • the stay is for your important professional or personal interest or on humanitarian grounds, you cannot leave the territory before the end of the period of validity of the visa or before the end of the period covered by the visa of an allowed period of stay,
  • the events that are the cause of applying for a visa extension, occurred regardless of your will and were not foreseeable on the day of submission of the application for a visa,
  • the circumstances of the case do not indicate that the purpose of your stay on the territory of the Republic of Poland will be different than declared,
  • there are no circumstances, because of which the national visa should be refused.

A Schengen visa is extended, if the holder of the visa has demonstrated that, as a result of force majeure or for humanitarian reasons, it is not possible to leave the Schengen territory before the expiry of the visa, or before the end of the allowed period to stay covered by the visa.

A Schengen visa can be extended, if the holder of the visa has provided evidence of important personal reasons justifying the prolongation of the period of validity of the visa or the period of stay.
